Biggie's Wax Figure Unveiled At Madame Tussauds

October 25, 2007 [New York, NY] – In a moving tribute to her son, Ms. Voletta Wallace today unveiled a wax figure of legendary rapper Biggie Smalls (born: Christopher Wallace) at Madame Tussauds New York. Many of Biggie’s friends attended the figure unveiling, which also featured a performance by members of the Brooklyn High School of Arts’ choir, who sang “I’ll Be Missing You,” a tribute song composed shortly after Biggie’s death, and gospel classic, “I’ll Fly Away.”

Madame Tussauds visitors will be able to take photos with and even hug Biggie’s figure, which will be housed in its own room on the attraction’s ninth floor. As guests approach the figure, they can use parts of their body to break moving multi-colored light beams to trigger clips of Biggie’s songs to play.

“It is such an honor to have my son’s memory memorialized in such a grand way by Madame Tussauds,” said Ms. Wallace. “Their prestigeously recognized attraction showcases the history of many great men and women the world abroad and I’m touched that they have embraced my son Christopher amongst them. My family thanks you for this beautiful statue symbolizing the legacy of a great man!”

Here's some more info on T.I.'s arrest. We know we posted some of this info in the last report but there's more to it. Props to Miss Info.

“On four different occasions, the affidavit said, he gave his bodyguard cash to buy firarms.The bodyguard said that in September he delivered a 9-mm pistol to Harris, who invited the bodyguard into his bedroom, the affidavit said. Inside, there was a walk-in closet with a safe tall enough for a person to enter with a fingerprint-reading scanner as a lock, the affidavit said. The safe contained multiple short rifles, including an assault rifle inside a black bag, according to the affidavit. On Saturday, wearing a hidden wire and cooperating with federal agents, the bodyguard met Harris at a pre-arranged meeting place in Midtown and handed over the three machine guns and two silencers, the affidavit said. When Harris was told about one of the silencers, he said, “no flash, no bang,” and later asked for the “change leftover” from the $12,000 he had given the bodyguard for the weapons, the affidavit said.”

“At a press conference an hour after Monday’s court hearing, federal agents displayed nine weapons they said were found in Harris’s car and in the closet of his home. Among the weapons on display across a long conference table at the ATF office were an AK-47, a 9-mm handgun. Moments later they introduced three machine guns and the two silencers.

“Machine guns and silencers pose serious dangers to our community,” U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said. “The last place the machine guns and silencers should be are in the hands of a convicted felon….”

“Authorities at the press conference would not discuss any deal they struck with Harris’s bodyguard, who has been arrested and is facing charges, Nahmias said.”

11 Day Fed Investigation Leads To T.I. Arrest In ATL

11-day investigation that resulted in the arrest of Atlanta rapper Clifford "T.I." Harris:

—Oct. 2: Harris' bodyguard asks a licensed gun dealer about buying a machine gun without registering it, as required by law. The dealer reports the incident to ATF agents, who give the dealer the cell phone number of an undercover ATF agent, posing as a machine gun dealer, to pass along to the bodyguard. The bodyguard calls the number within hours.

—Oct. 10: Harris arranges for the bodyguard to pick up $12,000 in cash from his bank on Northside Parkway to buy the weapons. Later, the bodyguard meets with the undercover agent at a K-Mart store, 5997 Buford Highway, Doraville. The bodyguard gives the agent $2,200 and a .223-caliber pistol in exchange for three 9mm machine guns and two 9mm silencers. The bodyguard is then arrested. He tells agents he was buying the guns for Harris. He also says he has purchased about 25 firearms over the past 18 months for Harris and others. ATF agents confirm the purchases.

—Oct. 11: After agreeing to cooperate with the ATF, the bodyguard makes a monitored phone call to Harris. He tells Harris that he has "everything for you."

—Oct. 12: Harris calls his bodyguard and arranges for him to deliver the firearms the next day.

—Oct. 13, between 12:30 and 1 p.m.: Harris calls the bodyguard and asks him to bring the items to a recording studio. At the direction of ATF agents, the bodyguard suggests that they instead meet at a shopping center parking lot at the corner of Piedmont and North avenues in Atlanta.

—2:22 p.m.: Harris arrives at the parking lot. The bodyguard gets into Harris' vehicle and shows him the machine guns and silencers. When the bodyguard explains the function of one silencer, Harris says, "No flash, no bang." Harris also asks about ammunition, the capacity of the magazine and about "change left over" from the $12,000. Authorities then move in and arrest Harris without incident. A search of his vehicle uncovers three firearms, including one tucked between the driver's seat and the center console.

—2:40 p.m.: ATF agents begin searching Harris's home at 429 Creekview Lane, College Park. They find three rifles, two pistols and a revolver in a walk-in closet in his bedroom. Five of the firearms are loaded.

—Monday: Harris, held in federal custody over the weekend, is scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court on two felony charges: possession of unregistered machine guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

Kanye West And 50 Cent's Album Sales Decrease In 2nd Week

Both Kanye West and 50 Cent experienced a huge drop in album sales during their second week in stores.

Kanye West's "Graduation" sold 209,953 copies during its second week in stores experiencing a 77% sales decrease. The total was enough to give Kanye another platinum album with "Graduation".

50 Cent's "Curtis" experienced an 80% sales decrease selling 128,866 copies during its second week in stores. The sales inch 50 closer to platinum.

The week's other two big Hip-Hop releases, Chamillionaire's "Ultimate Victory" and Twista's "Adrenaline Rush 2007", made a minor splash on the charts.

Cham's "Ultimate Victory" debuted at #8 selling 78,039 copies while Twista's "Adrenaline Rush 2007" came in at a disappointing #13 with 38,123.

More Info On New Jay-Z Album; American Gangster

Jay-Z will release a new album called "American Gangster" Tuesday November 6th.

The release is Jay-Z's first concept album and is inspired by the up-coming movie of the same name starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.

According to the New York Times, the album came together over the past few weeks after Jay-Z was shown the film, directed by Ridley Scott, in which Denzel Washington portrays Frank Lucas, a early 1970s Harlem heroin kingpin.

Jay-Z has already recorded nine tracks for the album almost every one prompted by a specific scene.

“It was like I was watching the film, and putting it on pause, and giving a back story to the story,” he told the Times.

The first song from "American Gangster" entitled "Blue Magic" is expected to be released Sept. 20. The track is produced by the Neptunes Pharrell Williams. The song is said to have a 80s New York feel to it.

Denzel Washington had reportedly asked the film's producer, Brian Grazer to persuade Jay-Z to record the film's soundtrack.

“I just didn’t think there’d be enough for Jay-Z to do,” Mr. Grazer said, explaining that he resisted because he and Mr. Scott felt the movie required an authentic 1970s feel.

"No Hook", a song on "American Gangster" has Jay-Z rhyming the following lines:

"Please don’t compare me to other rappers. Compare me to trappers.

I’m more Frank Lucas than Ludacris. And Lude is my dude, I ain’t trying to dis.

Just like Frank Lucas is cool, but I ain’t tryin’ to snitch.

I’m-a follow the rules, no matter how much time I’m-a get.

I’m-a live and die with the decisions that I’m-a pick."

TMZ has learned that Remy (real last name Smith) was at Players Club in the Bronx on August 19 when a tussle went down. At the club, Remy saw the boyfriend of a possible witness in her earlier case -- in which she's accused of the July 14 shooting of a friend she accused of stealing $2,000 from her purse -- and allegedly had her posse rough him up, fracturing his face. A friend of the man was also injured, requiring hospitalization for a week.

In addition to the multiple assault and weapons charges she's already facing for the July 14 incident, Manhattan DA spokesman Edison Alban tells TMZ that Ma is now facing charges of gang assault, tampering with a witness, intimidating a victim and third-degree assault. She was released on $250,000 bail, had to hand over her passport, and will be back in court September 20 to review her bail privileges.

September 12, 2007 -- Kanye West is making chump change out of rival 50 Cent.

The preppy singer's CD was handily beating his Queens-born rapper foe's in online sales on several sites as both albums debuted yesterday.

West's "Graduation," the latest installment in his college-themed trilogy, soared to the top of the charts on Amazon.com, while "Fitty's" landed at a disappointing No. 6.

With iTunes, West's new album was ranked as the second best seller of the day.

"This album is simply amazing," one customer posted. "Buy it now and forget about 50 Cent for a while."

On the same site, 50 Cent's "Curtis" CD - his real name is Curtis Jackson - landed in the ninth spot.

Fitty famously boasted he would stop making solo records if West beat him in first-week album sales.

Still, at local stores, the matchup appeared to be fairly even.

"They're pretty close," said Eclipse, the manager of Fat Beats in Manhattan. "I'd say we probably moved more Kanye than 50, but it's pretty neck-and-neck."

As for the rivalry between West and Fitty, it seems to be good for business for both of them, which may explain why Fitty seemed awful chummy with his supposed rival at the MTV Music Awards Sunday night. source

MIAMI (AP) -- Rapper Trick Daddy was arrested after a fight at a strip club early Tuesday, authorities said.

The rapper, whose real name is Maurice Young, was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest, according to the police report.

Authorities responded to a fight at Tootsie's Cabaret just after 1 a.m. and found Young, who smelled of alcohol, cursing and "threatening staff at the club," the report said. Police repeatedly asked Young to leave the club, but he refused.

When they tried to handcuff him, he also refused and started moving his arms around, according to the report.

He was taken to a hospital where he was treated for injuries from the fight and later transported to Miami-Dade County jail. The rapper's mug shot shows a bloody nose and cheek.

He bonded out for $1,500, a jail spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately known if Young had legal representation. His label, Slip-N-Slide Records, declined comment.

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that R. Kelly's trial on charges of child pornography will now be delayed until Spring '08.

"We are not going to be going to trial the 17th of September," said Judge Vincent Gaughan Tuesday (Sept. 4).

Kelly, 40, had been scheduled to go on trial Sept. 17 on child pornography charges.

Prosecutors charged Kelly in 2002 with making a 26-minute videotape in which he appears to be having sex with an underage girl. Kelly pleaded not guilty. The girl, allegedly 14 on the tape, is now 22 and has denied she is the one who appears.

A law enforcement force tells the Times the reason for the delay is the trial of accused Brown's Chicken killer James Degorski. Gaughan previously presided over the trial of now-convicted Brown's Chicken killer accomplice Juan Luna.

Gaughan is expected to announce a new trial date for Kelly on Sept. 10.

The tour is the largest of its kind and will hit the campuses of 14 historically black colleges and universities over the course of the current fall semester. Targeted exclusively to college students, the tour will feature games, entertainment and information specifically geared towards co-eds.

The tour will be hosted by several BET personalities including Rocsi, Terrence J, Lamorne, Alesha Renee, and Q-45.
